Central Pa. developer launches construction management company

Jonathan Bowser, the former CEO of the Cumberland Area Economic Development Corporation and managing partner of Integrated Development Partners in Wormleysburg has opened a construction management company.

The Steelton native opened Steel Works Construction this summer at 430 N. Front St. in Wormleysburg and at 216 N. Front St. in Steelton.

Bowser serves as president and CEO of the company, which will provide construction services to private and public entities in areas such as residential, commercial, industrial, site, and rail.

“SWC’s charter is to pursue public and private construction work that requires minority participation as a Tier 1 Contractor and partner with Tier 2 minority, women and disadvantaged owned subcontractors to facilitate and expand contracting opportunities,” the company said in a news release.

The company’s initial focus will be on local work for municipalities, quasi-governmental agencies, county development agencies and privately held companies that have procurement guidelines that include minority participation.

“It’s a passion of mine,” Bowser said in the news release. “I want to see more minorities and women in the construction field. There are a lot of opportunities for high paying jobs and careers, in addition to entrepreneurship opportunities. I want to do my part in introducing those opportunities to women and minorities.”

The company name was derived from Bowser and his partners’ first project together, a mixed-use development in Steelton known as Steel Works. The new company is affiliated with Integrated Development Partners but is a separate entity.
