PRECONSTRUCTION/ESTIMATOR

Position Overview:

Steel Works Construction is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Preconstruction/Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating and preconstruction services within the commercial construction industry. This role is critical in ensuring that our projects are accurately estimated and prepared for execution, contributing to the overall success and profitability of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Estimating: Accurately prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.

  • Preconstruction Planning: Collaborate with Owners, project managers, engineers, and architects during the preconstruction phase to develop comprehensive project plans.

  • Bid Preparation: Analyze bid documents, prepare and submit competitive bids, and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms.

  • Budgeting: Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring alignment with company financial objectives.

  • Value Engineering: Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies while maintaining project quality and integrity.

  • Risk Management: Assess potential risks associated with projects and develop mitigation strategies.

  • Client Interaction: Maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns during the preconstruction phase.

  • Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all estimates, bids, and project plans.

  • Industry Knowledge: Stay current with industry trends, standards, and regulations to ensure compliance and competitiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

  • Experience: A minimum of [5] years of experience in estimating and preconstruction services, with a focus on steel construction.

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar), Microsoft Office Suite, and project management tools.

  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of steel construction methods, materials, and industry standards.

  • Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex information, make sound decisions, and provide accurate estimates.

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders.

  • Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and a meticulous approach to estimating and documentation.

  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
